Tennessee State Parks dedicated Buffalo River State Park last Friday, formally welcoming 448 acres of rolling pastures and wooded hillsides in Wayne County along the scenic and biodiverse Buffalo River as the state’s 69th state park.
Located in Linden near the Perry County line, the new state park will feature more than two miles of river frontage, including the largest horseshoe bend on the river, providing visitors with increased opportunities to reconnect with nature.
The Buffalo River is the longest free-flowing tributary of the Tennessee River, and this newest state park will offer Tennesseans and visitors greater access to experience its beauty and biodiversity.
The current state budget includes $34 million designated for development of a visitor center, campground, maintenance facility, roadways, river access and other amenities.
