GILES COUNTY, Tenn. - The Giles County Animal Shelter has released its October update, reporting a busy and successful month.
The shelter began October with 34 animals and took in 38 more. Nine were adopted, one was returned to its owner, and 20 were transferred to rescue organizations with zero euthanizations. The month ended with 38 animals in care.
Staff say they are especially grateful to report no new or spreading cases of parvovirus, thanks to the dedication of shelter employees, volunteers, and rescue partners.
As temperatures drop, the shelter reminds residents that it has just 27 kennels—8 indoor and 19 outdoor—and donations of straw and bedding are especially needed to help keep every animal warm and safe this winter.
