SCAM WARNING !!

The Giles County Sheriff’s Office is warning local residents about a phishing scam involving suspicious emails that are currently being reported in our area.

The emails appear to be an invitation to a party and contain a link for the recipient to click. According to reports, clicking the link may allow scammers to gain unauthorized access to the individual’s device and potentially compromise personal information.

The Giles County Sheriff’s Office warns and strongly recommends DON’T CLICK THAT LINK.

Remember these simple steps when you receive a suspicious email or text message: Don’t click links or open attachments from unknown or unexpected senders, Verify the sender before responding or taking any action, Be cautious of messages that create a sense of urgency or ask you to provide personal information, and If something seems suspicious, delete it rather than taking a chance.

Scammers only need one click to potentially cause a lot of problems. When in doubt, stop, think, and verify before you click.
