GILES COUNTY, Tenn. – Two teenagers in Giles County are facing charges after investigators say they shared a private photo of a classmate on Snapchat.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says it started looking into the case last November after a compromising image of a minor was posted on social media. Agents say the photo was first sent to one teen, who then passed it along to another. One of the teens also reportedly sent a threatening message to the victim.
Both juveniles have now been charged in juvenile court:
One teen is charged with illegal use of a phone, sharing an illegal photo, and harassment.
The other is charged with illegal use of a phone and sharing an illegal photo.
Because they are minors, their names are not being released.
The TBI says this case is a reminder that sharing private images without permission is not only harmful—it’s against the law
