Douglas McArthur Cox passed away on April 8 at his home in Lynville. His parents were the
late Owen Cox and Willie (Bugg) Cox. Douglas grew up working on the family’s farm. He later became employed at American
Maggotteaux for over 30 years of service. He endured hard work to always support his family
and friends. His experience growing up shaped him into the strong, resilient, and loving man
that he became. He loved to hunt, fish, farm, football, and lottery scratch off tickets. He also
loved going to the Soda Pop in Lynnville to meet his friends. Douglas professed his hope in Jesus Christ at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Pulaski, Tennessee. He served as a Deacon of the church. He was a Mason of the Lynnville Lodge until it
dissolved. He was a member of the Lynnville Friendship Club. Douglas was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and son-in-law. He was a humble and loving man. He led his life as an example of hard work, perseverance, and faith in
God. He would help anyone along the way that needed it.
Douglas leaves to cherish his humble legacy to his devoted wife of 56 years, Shirley Cox; his
daughters, Tereyo Cox (Wayne Burgess) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Lisa (Cox) Marks of
Pulaski, Tennessee; his grandson, Jarvis Cox-Burgess of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and step
granddaughter, Akela Marks of Lewisburg, Tennessee; Bessie (late Frank) Gandy of Buffalo, New
York; sister-in-laws, Debra Shorter and Lori Gentry of Pulaski, Tennessee, and a host of loving
nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. One of his closest friends, Joe Richardson and Joe
