Jarry Don Wise, age 77 of Athens, passed away Saturday 17, 2026. Don, lovingly known to his family and friends as “Bear”, was born June 8, 1948 in Athens, Alabama to Van and Adene Wise. Bear spent many years as a dedicated truck driver for Conagra before enjoying a well-earned retirement. He treasured his time with family and friends and was known for his warm spirit and steadfast presence.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deborah Kay Wise, and his son, Jerry Allen Wise.
He is survived by his brothers Johnny Wise (Brenda) and Jeff Wise; his son, Kenny Wise; and his daughter Brandy Hicks (Tom). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Shellie Jackson (Justin), Kellie Tucker (Michael), Josh Wise (Ashley), and Heather Wise, along with many great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Jerry Don “Bear” Wise will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will be treasured forever.
