Jerry Wayne Simmons, age 79, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026 at his
home. Known to many as a man of few words but immense heart, Jerry lived a life defined by
gentleness, patience, and a quiet, profound devotion to his family. He was his
daughter’s true hero, a steady and protective presence who lovingly called her his
“Queenie”. He also held an enduring, deep devotion to his son, loving and caring for him
faithfully each and every day of his life.
In his early family years, he loved the freedom of riding his motorcycle or playing his
guitar and was always ready to step outside to play ball with his children when they
were young. After retiring from Frito Lay, he found true contentment right at
home—meticulously taking care of his yard or settling into his favorite TV show Sanford
and Son. He brought a sense of peace, harmony, and steady calm to every room he
walked into. As a father and grandfather, his greatest joy was simply loving on his
children and grandchildren. He taught by example, showing his family the value of
kindness, the comfort of a listening ear, and beauty of a simple, honest life. His warmth,
easy smile, and steady presence will be deeply missed but forever carried in the hearts
of those he leaves behind.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jenny Faulkner and her husband Alan of Pulaski; his
son, Jeremy Lee Simmons of Goodsprings; and his cherished grandchildren, Harley
Bradley of Pulaski, Blake Bradley of Antioch, Logan Shayne Bradley of Chattanooga,
and Mallori Gatlin of Minor Hill. He is also survived by several special nieces and
nephews, alongside a lifetime of quiet, beautiful memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harvey Lee and Betty Verona Lawrence
Simmons; and his siblings, Tennie Bell Ashford, Brad Simmons, Leroy Simmons, Dean
Simmons, and Richard Simmons.
Visitation will be 12-2 pm Monday October 5, 2026, at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with
Funeral Service to follow at 2pm. Interment will be in Booth Chapel Cemetery.
