John “Johnny” Mitchell Owens

John “Johnny” Mitchell Owens, age 77, of Lawrenceburg,
TN, formerly of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on
Saturday, September 6 th , 2025 at his sister’s home in
Lawrenceburg. John was born on May 20 th , 1948 to the
late Hiram W. Owens and Vernon Moore Owens in
Lawrenceburg. He graduated from LCHS in the class of
1967. After high school, John proudly served his country in
the United States Army, during the Vietnam Era. After his
service, he would work for many years at Williams Optic in
Nashville as an Ophthalmic Lab Technician. In his spare
time, he enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, listening to
music, traveling, reading his bible, and spending time with
his loving family and friends. He was of Methodist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
brother-in-law, David Hicks.
He is survived by his siblings, Sarah Hicks, Stephen
Owens; stepmother, Mary Nell Owens; stepbrother, Shawn
Stephenson; nieces and nephews, Lindsey Hartsfield (Eric
Meeks), Kati Smith (Ryan), Robert Shaw (Brittney),
Mitchell Shaw, and Selena Stephenson, and several great
nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later time.
