Melvin E. Henderson

    Melvin E. Henderson, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, was born on March 8, 1954, to the late Margaret R. Henderson Brown and John C. Henderson. He was the third of seven children.

    Melvin accepted Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in his faith throughout his life. Raised on a strong spiritual foundation, he was an active member of Old Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served on the Usher Board. Melvin received his education through Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1973. As a young man, he was a passionate athlete and proudly played on his high school and College basketball team. In 1980, Melvin moved to Pulaski, Tennessee, where he began his career with Frito-Lay as a Machine Operator and Forklift Driver. He dedicated more than 30 years of service to the company before retiring in 2011. On January 17, 1986, Melvin married the love of his life, Anna Henderson. Together they shared over 40 years of love, partnership, and devotion. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Keshia Henderson Gordon. Melvin was a devoted husband, loving father, dedicated provider, and proud family man who treasured every moment spent with those he loved.

    On June 17, 2026, Melvin departed this earthly life at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, dedication, and cherished memories. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, John C. Henderson and Margaret Ray Henderson Brown; his brother, Robert L. Henderson; his stepson, Lemuel Lancaster; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Leonard and Linda Whitworth.

    He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Anna Henderson; his daughter, Keshia Henderson Gordon (Nate); his stepchildren, Carl Marks and Lisa Lancaster; his sisters, Iris A. Henderson (Wilbert) and Regina D. Stigger (Nelson); his brothers, Calvin Henderson, Larry E. Henderson (Ellen), and Jerome D. Edmonds. He also leaves his treasured grandchildren: Jakiyah Gilbert, Destiny Lee, Jayla Lee, Keaisha Gordon, Nyla Gordon, Kyla Gordon, Zyon Gordon, Delacy Lancaster, Corbin White, Piper White, Kash Marks, Ora Marks, and Caury Marks; three great- grandchildren: Amari Watson, Hazley Bowers, and Jayslin Lancaster. Additionally, he leaves to mourn his passing his sisters-in-law: Stella Beets, Joyce Ballentine (Danny), and Wanda Ann Smith, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

    Funeral Service for Melvin E. Henderson will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 beginning with visitation at 11am and the 12noon funeral service immediately following at Old Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 658 East Washington Street, Pulaski, TN.

    Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Pulaski, TN.
