
Palmer “Red” Keathley passed away in his home on August 12,2025 surrounded by his
loving family in New Concord, KY.
Palmer, known to many as “Red” ,was born in Galveston, KY on June 19,1944 to the
late Robert and Myrtle Howell Keathley. He was a skilled butcher, first operating his own
shop before later retiring from Kroger as a meat cutter. A talented carpenter, Palmer
enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in his craft. Above all, he will be
remembered as a caring husband, devoted father, and an even more adored “Papaw.”
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years,
Nancy J Keathley, who passed just days prior; brother, Robert “Junior” Keathley and
sister, Betty Keathley.
He is survived by his 3 sons- Rick (Michele) Keathley of Minor Hill, TN; Scott (Julie)
Keathley of Camden, MI; Ted (Stacey) Keathley of Lynchburg, TN. 6 grandchildren-
Kimmy (Cameron) Hood, Nathan Kurtz, Mike (Miranda) Kurtz, Dustin (Cassey)
Keathley, Chelsey (Matt) Hubbell, Candice Phillips. Sister- Nancy Lou Hammoud.
Several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends also survive.
A celebration of life will be held at the family farm in Minor Hill on Sept. 20 from 12-4
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Benevolent fund or
Angel Community Fund at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House.
Imes Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of the arrangements for Palmer Gene
Keathley.
