Roger Dale Gilbert

Roger Dale Gilbert born May 7, 1957 and Stella Tennessee to Fred D and Barbara Sue Gilbert. He was the second oldest of nine children. He departed this life on April 3, 2026 at his home in Marion Virginia.

Roger was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Hill Church. He enjoyed spending time gardening and tending to his lawn. He received primary education at Anthony Hill school and later attended Prospect High School where he played basketball. Roger was employed for 20+ years at Gabriel manufacturing in Pulaski Tennessee and later at Sonic America in Marion Virginia. He also spent a short time as an over the road driver for Western Express.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Bennett May and Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11 from 11 AM to 12 PM at Bennett May and Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.

Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Proceeding Roger Dale Gilbert in death are his maternal grandparents Ozell and Katherline Gilbert his paternal grandparents Roberta Randolph and Noah Smith his sister Barbara Sue Gilbert and brother Evins Fred Gilbert.

Roger is survived by his devoted life partner, Betty Russell; daughters, Carmita Gilbert Cissy Fox and husband, Christopher, and Lashay Gilbert; parents, Fred D. and Barbara Sue Gilbert; sisters, Evelyn Bridgeforth and husband, Wayne, Jaquelyn Nattress and husband, John; brothers, Darrell Gilbert and wife, Anita, Tim Gilbert and wife, Rotosha, and Jimmy Gilbert and wife, Mae Joyce; Sister in law Theresa Gilbert, grandchildren, Avery Fox; adopted grandchildren, Jayden McKinney, Aaliyah Mack, and Ezekial Reddick; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Thomas Reddick and James Hiett; and his aunts, Shirley Gipson, Sarah Gilbert, Jeraline Chandler, Annie Ruth Gilbert, Karen Randolph and Deloris Watson.
