Carolyn Sue Stay

Carolyn Sue Stay, age 71 of Minor Hill, passed away Tuesday May 5, 2026 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia. Carolyn was born June 5, 1954 in Lester, AL to L.E. and Mable Chambers Baxter. She was a former Meat Department Manager at Wal-Mart, loved gardening, riding the lawn mower, and was a member of Shoal Bluff Church of Christ. Carolyn’s greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She really enjoyed spending time with family and cooking chocolate oatmeal cookies for her brother-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents L.E. and Mable Baxter; first husband Willie Joe Williams; brother Buddy Baxter; sisters Robbie Wise, Darlene Adams, and Faye Chambers.

Visitation will be 3-4 pm Saturday May 9, 2026 at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home with Memorial Service to follow at 4 pm.

Survivors include her husband Micky Stay of Minor Hill; daughters Stephanie Davison (Shelton) of Dora, AL, Melissa Williams of Minor Hill; sisters Geneva Thornton (Jimmy) of Minor Hill, Hazel Moore of Lester, AL, Dorothy Hood of Goodspring; grandchildren Briana Harrison, Tiffany Vanhoozer, Garrett Vanhoozer; great grandchildren Serenity Posey and Emery Posey; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
